About Us

For 38 years, the Central Florida Women’s League Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, has awarded grants to community nonprofits and scholarships to outstanding young women. CFWL is entirely a volunteer organization. It is only through the tremendous effort and generosity of our league members, patron sponsors, benefactors and corporate sponsors that we have been able to raise and contribute $3 million to students and local charities.

Our History

2013-2014

CFWL celebrated our 25th anniversary of commitment to community, charity, caring and culture. Through the generosity of our members and sponsors, we raised over $148,000 this year in support of local charities and scholarships. Many of our members and supporters enjoyed a Grande Escape weekend at the Ritz Carlton, our 3rd annual Derby Gala at the Alfond Inn, and participating in our Taste of Windermere event held once again at The Pines. We provided a total of $108,000 in charitable grants to the following worthy charities: Harbor House of Central Florida, Primrose Center, A Gift for Music, Camaraderie Foundation, The Garden Theatre, and Quest Inc. / Life Concepts.  We also provided a $2,000 stipend to The Boys and Girls Club of South Lake County. This year’s compassion funding provided two $500 grants to benefit Blessings in a Backpack and Fern Creek Foundation. Eleven college scholarships totaling $33,000 were awarded to deserving college-bound young ladies, and one young man was awarded the George Fortier Memorial Scholarship. Our members organized and volunteered at service projects for each of last year’s selected charities.  Additionally, our members volunteered their time at Feeding Children Everywhere packaging meals for hungry children.  CFWL also volunteered a team to spend a day building a home for a hardworking family through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Orlando’s Women Build project.

2012-2013

CFWL had another tremendous year of accomplishment!  Through the generosity of our members and sponsors, we raised over $183,000 this year in support of local charities and scholarships. Our best year yet!  Many of our members and supporters enjoyed a Grande Escape weekend at the Ritz Carlton, our 2nd annual Derby Gala at the Citrus Club, and participating in our rapidly expanding Taste of Windermere event held once again at The Pines. We provided a total of  $90,000 in charitable grants to the following worthy charities:  Matthew’s Hope, Edgewood Children’s Ranch, Orlando Health’s Level One Trauma Center, The Russell Home for Atypical Children, and TransLife. We also provided compassion funding assistance to provide computers to assist Lancaster Elementary School’s literacy program. 11 college scholarships totalling $33,000 were awarded to deserving young ladies, and one young man benefited as the George Fortier Memorial Scholarship recipient. Our members organized and volunteered at service projects for each of last year’s selected charities.

2011-2012

The Central Florida Women’s League continued its tradition of raising money to serve local charities and scholarship recipients. Over $150,000 was raised this year by our members, sponsors, benefactors and friends of the league. We started the year with a new event ‘Dinners and More” that was a special treat for those who participated. We had a truly “Grande Escape” at the Ritz Carlton, Orlando. Another signature event was the “Taste of Windermere” at The Pines. This event was a huge success with the help of over 24 local restaurants and Tim Webber Catering. We finished the year with our “Derby Gala Party” at the Citrus Club. The deserving recipients this year are, The Florida Hospital Breast Cancer Fund, Apopka Family Learning Center, PALS providing Autism Links and Services, Grace Medical Center and Seniors First. We also awarded 10 scholarships to local area girls from Dr. Phillips High School, Olympia High School, Ocoee High School and West Orange High School.

2009-2010

We raised OVER $127,000 in net revenue for the Foundation through fundraising efforts and Benefactor memberships. The CFWL events began with our annual Fresh Market Wine Tasting Reception, followed by our 10th annual Golf Tournament held at Marriott’s Grand Pine Golf Club, and culminated with our “Escape to Paradise Gala” held for the second year in a row at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club. The funds raised have been awarded to five (5) charities which include, The Foundation for Foster Children, Edgewood Children’s Ranch, B.A.S.E. Camp Children’s Cancer Foundation, Hubbard House, and Bread of Life Fellowship. In addition, ten (10) senior high school students from West Orange, Dr. Phillips, Olympia, and Ocoee received partial College Scholarships. This was our highest number of recipients since we began awarding these grants. In our 21 years we have given back to the community in the way of grants, scholarships and compassion funding almost $1,500,000. These monies went to serve a total of 52 charities and provided 99 students with college scholarships.

2008-2009

Our 20th Anniversary year began with a celebration at the Ritz Carlton in honor of CFWL Founders, Charter Members, and Past Presidents. We started our fundraising efforts with the Bloomingdale’s Shopping Event. This year’s signature events included the Fresh Market Wine Tasting, the 9th Annual Golf Tournament held at   Orange County National, and our “Escape to Paradise” Gala at Disney’s Yacht Beach Club Resort.  Through our fundraising efforts, we raised $109,000 for the Foundation. 2007-2008

The Central Florida Women’s League continued with its grand tradition of giving to and serving our community this year. Through our signature events – the Fresh Market Wine Tasting, the Upscale Rummage Sale at Camp Down, our 2nd Annual Miniature Christmas Tree Sale at the December Luncheon, the 8th Annual Golf Tournament at Keene’s Pointe, and our Spring Gala, “Escape to Paradise” at the Rosen Shingle Creek, we were able to raise over $160,000. Scholarships were awarded to ten deserving high school senior girls from Dr. Phillips, Ocoee, Olympia, and West Orange High Schools. Three of our charities from last year, the Boys and Girls Club, A Gift for Teaching, and Share the Care, were the recipients of Service Projects.

2006-2007

This year was a milestone year for CFWL.  We exceeded awarded donations in the amount of $1,000,000 since the League was founded.  Our fundraising events, The Upscale Rummage Sale, the Fresh Market Wine Tasting, the 7th Annual Golf Tournament held at Grand Cypress, the Poinsettia Sale, and the gala, “Moroccan Mystique” at the Royal Pacific Resort were all major successes once again. We selected the following charities to receive grants:  Share the Care,  Gift for Teaching, Boys and Girls Club, and Mustard Seed.  Scholarships were awarded to seven local high school seniors and Jeanne Fortier presented the four-year George Fortier Scholarship to Anthony Morrison from West Orange High School.  The League raised money for Compassion Funding by decorating and selling miniature Christmas trees at the Holiday Luncheon.  Compassion Funding donations were presented to Anthony House, Children’s Home Society, and the American Red Cross.
